Preheat the oven to 190˚C. Grease 2 ramekins.

Dice date, soak in 80 ml hot water with baking soda, rest until room temperature reached.

Cream brown sugar and butter.

Then add beaten egg gradually.

Sift in self-raising flour, fold well then add date mixture.

Pour into ramekins and bake for 30 minutes or until done.

Turn the cakes out, let cool slightly. Serve with toffee sauce.

Toffee Sauce:Heat brown sugar, cream and butter together at low heat until combined.

Simmer for 5 minutes to thicken. |
